
If you are under 18 years old, you are a minor. The first milestone on the road to getting your California driver’s license (DL) is to obtain your provisional instruction permit, sometimes called a “learner’s permit.” This is for people who are learning to drive and working on the requirements to get a DL. When you apply for an original driver’s license, you must pass a knowledge test. You need to understand traffic laws and safety to get your driver’s license. Individuals must be at least 15.5 years of age to take the California permit test. This comes out to a minimum passing score of 83%. Of those 46 questions, individuals will need to answer 38 of those questions correctly to pass the exam. The California permit driving test is made up of 46 total questions.
